Refund Policy

All notification of withdrawal must be made in writing via email to Karen Winslow at kwinslow@aifs.com or to the general email customizedfacultyled@aifs.com, or by fax or certified mail to: Customized, Faculty-Led Programs, AIFS Study Abroad, 1 High Ridge Park, Stamford, CT 06905. The fax number is 203.399.5597. Postmark date or date of email or fax transmission is considered date of withdrawal. All withdrawal statements must be signed by the applicant, or they will not be processed.

If a student withdraws on or before Friday, June 20, 2025, a full refund will be made less $150, plus any non-refundable deposits paid either by the student or by AIFS on the student’s behalf.

If a student withdraws after Friday,  June 20, 2025, but on or before Friday, July 18, 2025, the $450 deposit fee is forfeited, along with any non-refundable deposits paid either by the student or by AIFS on the student’s behalf.

Students withdrawing for any reason after Friday, July 18, 2025, receive no refund of fees and full payment is due. Flights cannot be arranged for students applying after Friday, June 20, 2025.

Once the program has started, students withdrawing receive no refund under any circumstances. This refund policy is necessary because the booking of facilities in Barcelona requires substantial non-refundable payments and commitments by AIFS in advance.

Protecting your investment:

Participants will have the option of purchasing additional trip cancellation or interruption insurance which allows them to protect their study abroad program. This policy includes options to cancel for any reason (CFAR) and interrupt for any reason (IFAR). Details of the Worldwide Trip Protector Plans with travel insurance underwritten by the United States Fire Insurance Company, rated A (Excellent) by A.M. Best 2019, are available on the Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI) website - www.culturalinsurance.com. Students may purchase their plan directly through the CISI website. The policy is time sensitive and must be purchased within 21 days of paying the $450 enrollment deposit.
