What is Included in the Program?

  • Accommodation in twin-bedded rooms in a homestay with a local family within a 30-minute commute to the AIFS Study Center, including breakfast and dinner daily, weekly laundry and Wi-FI access. For a supplemental fee ($870), students can live in a twin-bedded room in a fully furnished, shared apartment with kitchen access, laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi but no meals are included. All students will be housed in a central hotel the first night including breakfast and transferred to their accommodation by taxi following orientation the next day.
  • Orientation program in Barcelona consisting of an orientation meeting with AIFS staff; information packet with comprehensive student handbook; local area walking tour; half-day guided sightseeing tour of Barcelona by private bus; workshops with local staff about life in Spain, travel and safety; and a welcome reception.
  • A TMB travel pass for unlimited use on buses and metro in the central zone of Barcelona for the duration of the program.
  • A weekly program of subsidized cultural activities such as cooking classes, sporting events, walking tours, theater and dance events, tapas evenings and day trips.
  • Full-day guided excursion to Girona and Figueres including round-trip transportation by private bus, guided walking tour of Girona and entrance to the Dali Museum in Figueres.
  • Articket pass which allows one free entrance to the following six museums: Museu Picasso, Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, Fundació Joan Miró, Fundació Antoni Tàpies and Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona.
  • A farewell meal.
  • Fully staffed AIFS office in the Study Center including an AIFS Program Coordinator and Student Advisor to provide information and 24-hour emergency contact service.
  • Student medical insurance policy.

 

Program Fees:

  • The program fee per student is $9,125 excluding tuition, which will be paid directly to your home institution. Please contact your nearest program coordinator for more information.

 

Optional Extras:

  • On a space-available basis, students may purchase the optional transportation package consisting of round-trip airfare (SFO–Barcelona–SFO) and round-trip transfers overseas between the airport and the accommodations on the specified program dates for $TBC. The cost breakdown is $TBC plus U.S. Government-and airline-imposed departure taxes, fees and fuel surcharges estimated at $TBC.
  • For a supplemental fee ($870), students can live in a twin-bedded room in a fully furnished, shared apartment with kitchen access, laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi but no meals are included. Apartments typically have 2-3 bedrooms and are centrally located, with in a 30-minute commute of the AIFS Study Center.
  • Optional 3-night excursion to Seville and Granada in Andalucia. In Seville, included is a guided walking tour of the historic Barrio Santa Cruz, entrance and guided tours of the Cathedral and Alcazar palace and a Flamenco show. In Granada, included is a guided tour of the Alhambra palace. 3-nights’ hotel accommodation in twin and triple rooms with breakfast. The fee, based on a minimum of 25 participants, is $595. Transportation is not included- students will be directed to book a specific flight itinerary.
  • Optional medical insurance upgrade for $65.
