Housing in self-catered studios in a central location. Typically each studio is made up of 2 twin bedrooms, a desk, an en-suite bathroom, a TV and has a fully equipped kitchenette. WiFi, bed linen & towels are also provided.
Travel passes for use on the buses, trams, S-bahn and U-bahn trains in Zones A&B for the duration of the program.
An orientation program in Berlin consisting of an orientation meeting with AIFS staff, student information package including a comprehensive student handbook, local area information, a welcome dinner and a half-day sightseeing tour of Berlin by private coach with the services of a professional guide.
A German Life and Culture course, taught by local qualified guest lecturers focusing on historical, political, economic and cultural aspects of Berlin and Germany. Local faculty will assign work and grades for the course.
A program of free and subsidized cultural activities including activities such as a “Kaffee und Kuchen” boat cruise along the River Spree, opera tickets, a sporting event, museum visits and a street art workshop and walking tour.
Entrance to the Memorial and Museum Sachsenhausen including round-trip transportation and the services of a professional English-speaking guide.
A guided tour of the Reichstag.
A daytrip to Potsdam including round-trip transportation, the services of a professional English-speaking guide, a 45 minute guided tour of Cecilienhof palace and admission to Sansoucci Palace.
AIFS support staff in Berlin. During the program an AIFS Program Coordinator will work with the Consortium faculty and students to provide information, personal advising/counselling, and 24 hour emergency duty phone service.

Optional Components:
On a space-available basis, students may purchase the optional transportation package consisting of round-trip airfare (Seattle – Berlin – Seattle) and round-trip transfers overseas between the airport and the housing in Berlin. The cost is $TBC plus US Government- and airline-imposed departure taxes, fees and fuel surcharges estimated at $TBC.
A three-day, two-night excursion by train to Prague with accommodation in twin or triple-bedded rooms on a bed and breakfast basis in a centrally located hotel. This excursion includes a guided walking tour of Prague, a Jewish Quarter walking tour and a traditional Czech group dinner. Plus a travel pass for unlimited use on city buses, trams, subways and funicular and an AIFS representative for the duration of the excursion. The fee for this excursion is $445. Please note that a 10 person minimum would be required for this excursion to run.
