AIFS Partnership Programs: Faculty-Led Study Abroad Programs

What is Included in the Program?

• Transportation package package consisting of round-trip airfare between Los Angeles (LAX) and Paris (CDG) and round-trip transfers overseas between the airport and the housing in Paris on the regular program dates
• Housing in shared twin rooms in self-catering apartments within 30-minutes commute by public transport of the Study Center and housing 4 to 6 students
• For no additional fee, students may choose the home-stay option (see below)
• An Orientation program in Paris including meetings with AIFS staff, welcome reception where homestay families are invited, workshops on cultural differences, safety/security and travel, and a half-day sightseeing tour of Paris by private bus
• A NAVIGO travel pass for unlimited use on metro, buses and regional trains in Paris for the duration of the program
• An AIFS Student Services Office located within the AIFS Study Center facilities. An experienced AIFS Program Co-ordinator will ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the program, providing information and advice to Consortium faculty and students. A 24-hour emergency phone service will also be provided
• A subsidized weekly program of cultural events in Paris such as museum visits, walking tours, cooking classes, sporting events, river cruise, concerts, and day trips
• An French Conversation course taught by local instructors – not for credit
• Day excursion to Chartres , including round trip public transportation, walking tour and entrance to Cathedral de Notre Dame
• Day excursion to Versailles including round trip public transportation and entrance to the palace and gardens
• Three-day/Two-night Excursion to the South of France This excursion will include the following:
  • Round trip transportation by TGV high-speed train from Paris to Avignon
  • Two-nights’ accommodation in multi-bedded rooms in a centrally-located hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis
  • A guided tour of Avignon including the Palais des Papes and Pont d’Avignon
  • A private bus transfer between Avignon and Aix-en-Provence
  • Full day tour of the region with stops to visit villages, local markets and farms
  • Two group dinners
  • The services of an AIFS Staff member to accompany the group excursion.

Optional Components:

Extra Protection Insurance including increased medical insurance ($65) and/or personal effects insurance ($90) as outlines in the AIFS insurance brochure

Optional three day/two night Excursion to Normandy
This optional excursion will include the following:

• Two nights’ accommodation in a centrally-located hotel in multi-bedded rooms on a bed and breakfast basis
• Round trip transportation by private bus
• Entrance to the Caen Memorial with the services of a professional English-speaking guide
• Day trip to the D-Day beaches including the American Cemetery
• One group meal
• The services of an AIFS Staff member to accompany the group excursion.

This excursion is available for a supplemental fee of $495 based on a minimum of 15 paying participants.

Optional three day/two night Excursion to Bordeaux
This optional excursion will include the following:

• Two nights’ accommodation in a centrally-located hotel in multi-bedded rooms on a bed and breakfast basis
• Round trip transportation by TGV high-speed train
• Walking tour of historic Bordeaux with the services of a professional English-speaking guide
• Day trip to Saint-Emilion including guided walking tour and vineyard visit
• One group meal
• The services of an AIFS Staff member to accompany the group excursion.

This excursion is available for a supplemental fee of $495 based on a minimum of 15 paying participants.
