UNIV 301 – Global Workers
This course examines the ways in which workers are exploited in today's global capitalist economy. In addition, this course will analyze the ways in which race, gender, immigration status, structure global patterns of labor exploitation. The course will also highlight the various ways workers movements and labor activists are resisting capitalist exploitation. This course will also require students to apply course concepts in understanding the labor exploitation in London.
Sociology 410 – Environmental Sociology
This course examines the social foundations of environmental degradation. In addition, this course will critically analyze the ways in which capitalism, racism, militarism, and imperialism shape environmental issues around the world. The course will also engage the ways in which global environmental justice movements have organized to combat environmental racism, toxic colonialism, and a range socially produced environmental inequities. This course will also require students to apply course concepts in understanding the social foundations of environmental inequality in London.
British Life and Cultures (AIFS: Adjunct Nicole D’Adamo)
British Life and Cultures course is taken by all students and aims to provide the opportunity for students to develop an understanding and appreciation of key aspects of contemporary British cultures and society, within an historical context. Students are encouraged to make informed, critical comparisons between what they observe and learn about British society and their home culture and society. As part of the course students are introduced to key cultural and historical sites in London and encouraged to visit additional sites independently and to view such in an informed and critical way.
